For the first time, the experience of charging an EV is simpler than filling up in a combustion car. Powerdot is at the forefront of efforts to simplify and democratise EV charging across Europe. With the rollout of the Autocharge feature in partnership with Chargemap, EV drivers in France, Belgium, Spain, and Poland are experiencing a new level of convenience.
What is Autocharge?
Autocharge is an innovative feature that automates and simplifies the EV charging process. Once activated, it enables vehicles to begin charging automatically when plugged into a compatible station, eliminating the need for drivers to interact with apps or payment systems during each session.
Think of it as effortlessly plugging in your smartphone. By reducing interaction requirements and session times, Autocharge enhances the availability of public chargers, cuts down on waiting times, and makes life easier for drivers, especially in high-demand areas.
Bringing Autocharge to More Users
In the four European countries, Powerdot’s collaboration with Chargemap has introduced the Autocharge feature to Chargemap’s 2,5 million users. This builds on an earlier rollout with Miio, a Portuguese mobility operator, which brought Autocharge to Spain and France in mid-2023. Chargemap users can now activate Autocharge once through the app and enjoy seamless, automated charging across Powerdot’s extensive network.
Activation in Three Simple Steps:
- Plug your car into a Powerdot station with a CCS cable*.
- Start a charging session using the Chargemap Pass or app.
- Follow the instructions to activate Autocharge and link your vehicle to your account.
- Once set up, every subsequent charging session will start automatically when your vehicle is connected to a compatible station.
A Vision for a Sustainable Future
Powerdot’s commitment to rapid growth and innovation has established it as a leader in Europe’s EV charging industry, with 9,000 live charging points across six countries (Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, Poland, and Luxembourg). By 2025, Powerdot aims to deploy 15,000 fast-charging points across Europe, supported by a €260 million investment allocated to France (€153M), Belgium (€50M), and the Iberian Peninsula and Poland (€57M).
“Our goal with this launch is to continue providing our customers with the best user experience, complementing their daily routines and transforming the way people charge their electric vehicles,” says Luís Santiago Pinto, CEO of Powerdot.
